Random Acts of Flowers (RAFI) delivered its 175,000th bouquet to patients at Eskenazi Health on 27 October 2026, marking a decade of volunteer‑driven flower rescue.
The Indianapolis chapter launched in 2016 after a $9,000 donation in 45 minutes enabled it to open a workshop and secure hospital partnerships.
Volunteers gather surplus stems from weddings, memorials, florists and grocery outlets, trim and re‑arrange them, then hand‑deliver the fresh displays to patients across the city.
Executive Director Kelly McBride said the milestone reflects "175,000 moments of kindness and joy" shared with patients, noting that each bouquet relies on community donors and volunteers.
Founder Larsen Jay’s 2007 accident sparked the national model, as he redirected excess flowers to other ICU beds while recovering and saw the emotional lift they brought.
One 68‑year‑old leukemia patient at Eskenazi said the bouquet lifted her spirits and reminded her of family visits she could not have.
RAFI plans to maintain its delivery schedule for the next decade, seeking ongoing donations and volunteer support to keep the program alive.
