Punjab CM Accuses BJP of Orchestrating Blasts Near BSF Facilities
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Wednesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of involvement in two explosions reported near Border Security Force (BSF) establishments in Amritsar and Jalandhar. Mann alleged the incidents were part of a political strategy to incite fear and polarize voters ahead of upcoming state elections.
The blasts occurred in quick succession near BSF facilities, including a site close to the BSF headquarters. While no casualties or significant property damage were reported, the incidents triggered an immediate security response. Punjab Police and central intelligence agencies have cordoned off the affected areas to conduct forensic analysis and determine the source of the explosions.
Speaking on the incidents, Mann questioned the timing of the blasts and asserted that similar events often precede elections in regions where the BJP contests. He claimed the party relies on creating instability for electoral gains and urged an end to such tactics, stating that Punjab residents prioritize peace.
Investigating authorities have not yet confirmed any political motive behind the explosions. Security officials stated the current focus remains on technical evidence and intelligence inputs to identify the perpetrators.
Security has been tightened across sensitive locations in Punjab as forensic teams continue their investigation. A preliminary report from state and central agencies is expected to be finalized later this week.
