V.D. Satheesan Wins Sixth Consecutive Term in Paravur Assembly Seat
V.D. Satheesan of the United Democratic Front (UDF) won the Paravur Assembly seat in Kerala's 2026 elections, securing his sixth consecutive term. He received 78,658 votes, defeating Left Democratic Front (LDF) candidate E.T. Taison by a margin of 20,600 votes; Taison polled 58,058 votes. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Valsala Prasannakumar finished third with 20,377 votes.
Satheesan previously won the seat in 2021 with a margin of 21,301 votes against M.T. Nixon of the LDF. He first won Paravur in 2001, defeating P. Raju of the Communist Party of India by 7,434 votes. The constituency remained a UDF stronghold despite shifting political tides in the state.
The 2026 Kerala Assembly elections saw heightened competition among the UDF, LDF, and BJP, with Paravur considered a key battleground. Final results for the remaining constituencies are expected to be declared by the Election Commission of India within the next 24 hours.
