Telangana IT Minister Urges Firms to Directly Skill Engineering Graduates
Telangana IT and Industries Minister D. Sridhar Babu urged IT firms on Monday to take a direct and active role in skilling the state's engineering graduates, citing a growing gap between academic curricula and industry requirements. He emphasized that classroom education alone cannot ensure job readiness for fresh graduates.
Speaking at the 10th anniversary celebration of IT services firm PSR Techhub in Hyderabad, Babu called for structured mentorship programs and industry-led training initiatives to enhance employability. He highlighted Telangana's large pool of engineering talent and the need to align it with evolving technological demands.
The Minister encouraged IT companies to collaborate with educational institutions and develop standardized skilling modules. He stated that such partnerships would benefit both the workforce and the technology sector's growth in the state.
Industry representatives at the event acknowledged the challenge and indicated willingness to expand training collaborations. The government plans to initiate discussions with major IT firms to formalize skill development partnerships in the coming weeks.
