Mamata Boosts TMC Cadres' Confidence: Don't Leave Counting Centers Until Process Is Over
Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal, has been making headlines lately with her bold claims about her party's chances in the upcoming Assembly elections. She's been saying that the Trinamool Congress (TMC) will win a landslide victory, securing over 200 of the 294 assembly seats. Mamata has been trying to boost the morale of her party workers, especially after the majority of exit polls showed the BJP ahead.
In a virtual meeting with counting agents of 291 assembly seats, Mamata asserted that the TMC will at least win 200-plus seats if not more. She also asked the agents not to give importance to the propaganda and campaign by the BJP and its allies about the number of seats they would secure.
Mamata also reminded the agents that the TMC will stand beside them if they face any difficulties or harassment during the counting process. She specifically mentioned that the party will support counting agents who were allegedly assaulted by central forces during voting or campaigning.
The Chief Minister also directed her cadres to be vigilant and report any unusual activities inside counting centers. She mentioned that in case of any TMC candidate losing a seat by a margin of 200-300 votes, the counting agents must insist on recounting.
Mamata's message to her cadres was clear: no one should leave the counting centers until the process is over. She emphasized the importance of staying put and ensuring that the counting process is transparent and fair.
The virtual meeting, which began at 4 pm, lasted for nearly two hours. Mamata's nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, also interacted with the counting agents virtually and asked them to insist on recounting, particularly for postal ballots, in case of defeat of TMC nominees by a narrow margin.
