MoD Signs ₹1,476 Crore Deal with BEL for Mobile Electronic Systems

The Ministry of Defence signed a ₹1,476 crore contract with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Hyderabad, on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, for the procurement of five Ground-Based Mobile Electronic Systems for the Indian Army. The agreement was signed under the 'Buy (Indian–Indigenously Designed, Developed and Manufactured)' category, reinforcing India's focus on domestic defence production.
The deal was formalised at Kartavya Bhawan-2 in New Delhi in the presence of Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh. BEL will deliver the mobile electronic systems, designed to enhance battlefield surveillance and electronic warfare capabilities, as per the contract terms.
The Indian Army will integrate the systems to strengthen its operational readiness in high-altitude and mobile combat scenarios. The Ministry of Defence stated that delivery will proceed according to the scheduled timeline, with initial systems expected within 24 months.
