BJP Wins Three Seats in Kerala Assembly; CPI State Secretary Warns of 'Danger' to State Politics

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM — Communist Party of India (CPI) State Secretary Binoy Viswam on Wednesday characterized the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) victory in three Kerala Assembly seats as a "danger" to the state's political environment. Viswam urged all secular parties to treat the electoral outcome as a serious development that challenges Kerala's traditional political structure.
Addressing reporters in the state capital, Viswam noted that the BJP's influence extended beyond its three victories, as the party finished as the runner-up in six other constituencies. He stated that these gains necessitate an immediate and serious evaluation of the political shifts occurring within the state by all secular entities.
The remarks follow the conclusion of the 2026 Kerala Assembly elections, where the BJP achieved significant inroads into the state's legislative assembly. Secular parties and the Left Democratic Front are expected to hold internal deliberations in the coming days to assess the impact of the results and the BJP's increased vote share.
