Tragedy in Bengaluru: Teenager Electrocuted During Rainstorm

Imagine being out with your family on a rainy day, and in a split second, your life is cut short. That's what happened to Sufiyan, a 17-year-old student who tragically died after being electrocuted in Bengaluru. He had gone shopping with his family and was trying to park his bike near the Shivajinagar-Commercial Street junction, one of the city's busiest shopping areas.
The incident occurred on April 29 at around 6:15 pm, when the city was experiencing heavy rainfall and the roads were waterlogged. CCTV footage from the scene showed Sufiyan carrying his scooty through the waterlogged stretch before suddenly collapsing on the ground. It's heartbreaking to think about the panic and chaos that followed, as bystanders rushed to help but struggled to intervene due to the live current.
People eventually managed to pull Sufiyan away from the electric pole and tried to revive him, but unfortunately, their efforts were unsuccessful. The fact that his family members were present at the scene but couldn't intervene due to the active current makes the situation even more devastating.
The police have registered a case of Unnatural Death Report (UDR) and are currently investigating the incident. While no FIR has been filed so far, the community is left to wonder how such a tragedy could have occurred. As the investigation unfolds, we can only hope that measures will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of ensuring public safety, especially during extreme weather conditions. It's crucial for authorities to take proactive steps to prevent such tragedies and provide support to the families of victims. As we reflect on this tragic event, our thoughts are with Sufiyan's family and loved ones, who are dealing with an unimaginable loss.
