Ten Dogs Recovered in Hyderabad Abandonment Case, Rescue Operations Continue

Ten dogs, including Siberian huskies and a German Shepherd, have been recovered after being abandoned along the Shankarpally–Patancheru road near Bhanur on the outskirts of Hyderabad. One dog died previously, and rescuers believe more than 30 animals were initially left behind, according to police and animal welfare officials.
The latest recovery on Monday, May 4, 2026, involved two Siberian huskies and a German Shepherd found in the possession of local villagers who had taken them in after seeing the animals roaming in distress. The dogs were handed over to animal rescue teams and are undergoing medical evaluation.
Police are investigating the source of the abandonment and have begun tracing the owners through microchip data and local surveillance. Authorities have not yet made any arrests.
Adoption requests for the recovered dogs have surged, with animal welfare groups coordinating care and placement. The rescue operation remains ongoing as officials search for any remaining animals from the suspected mass abandonment.
