9-Year-Old Girl Killed in Stray Dog Attack in Rajasthan's Bundi District

A nine-year-old girl, Rinku Bheel, was mauled to death by stray dogs in Alkodia village under Talera police station in Rajasthan's Bundi district on Monday morning, police said. The incident occurred around 6 a.m. when the Class 3 student left her home to defecate in nearby fields, as there is no toilet at her residence.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajesh Tailor confirmed the girl sustained severe injuries, with portions of flesh consumed by the animals. Family members rushed to the scene after hearing screams and took her to the Talera Community Health Centre, where she was declared dead upon arrival. A case of unnatural death has been registered under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and the post-mortem was conducted by a medical board.
Lok Sabha Speaker and Kota-Bundi MP Om Birla visited the family later the same day, handed over Rs 1 lakh in compensation, and pledged an additional Rs 1 lakh through public funding. He directed the Bundi collector to provide administrative support, facilitate benefits under government schemes including PM Awas Yojana, and ensure preventive measures against stray dog attacks.
The area has seen prior incidents: in February, another girl was severely injured in a stray dog attack at a government school in Sitapura, under the same police station, and remains under treatment. Local officials have not yet disclosed specific steps taken to control the stray dog population.
District authorities are expected to submit an action plan on stray dog management, while the police continue documentation under court-directed procedures. The court will resume hearing on the matter during the next session.
