BJP Secures Historic West Bengal Win, Credited to Strategist Sunil Bansal

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a historic victory in the West Bengal Assembly elections, paving the way for its first government in the state. Party National General Secretary Sunil Bansal has been identified as the principal architect of the electoral strategy that delivered the breakthrough.
Bansal, who oversees BJP's operations in West Bengal, Odisha, and Telangana, led a reorganisation of the state unit ahead of the polls. He focused on resolving internal leadership disputes, strengthening booth-level coordination, implementing data-driven campaign tactics, and aligning with RSS on candidate selection. His efforts followed a dip in the party's performance in West Bengal during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where it won 12 seats.
Bansal coordinated closely with Union Home Minister Amit Shah during a 15-day campaign push in the state and worked alongside BJP's election in-charge Bhupender Yadav, Biplab Deb, and Amit Malviya to execute the central leadership's strategy. The approach mirrored his earlier success in Uttar Pradesh and contributed to the BJP's sweep in Odisha and improved performance in Telangana.
With Assembly elections scheduled in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Manipur, and Goa in February and in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh later this year, the BJP is expected to deploy Bansal and similar organisational leaders to consolidate its position in key states.
