State Approves Procurement of Six MRI Machines for District Hospitals

The State government has granted administrative approval to procure and deploy six MRI machines at district and district-level hospitals across Karnataka. The initiative is funded under the National Free Diagnostic Services Programme and aims to improve public access to advanced diagnostic care.
The MRI units will be installed at hospitals in Davanagere, Mysuru, Dharwad, Bagalkote, Jayanagar General/K.C. General Hospital in Bengaluru, and Bengaluru South. The selected sites reflect a mix of urban and rural healthcare centers, targeting improved imaging services in underserved areas.
Officials stated that the procurement process will begin immediately, with installations expected within the next fiscal quarter. The health department will monitor implementation to ensure timely commissioning of the machines.
