People’s Tribunal Alleges Rising Targeting of Christians in Odisha
People’s Tribunal alleged Tuesday that Christian communities across Odisha are facing increased targeting through discrimination and violence. The forum concluded a four-day field tour of the state and presented its findings at a press conference in Bhubaneswar.
Members said testimony collected from residents documented severe and systematic pressure on Christians, including intimidation, social exclusion and physical attacks. The tribunal said local authorities have failed to ensure protection or deliver timely justice in documented cases.
The delegation reviewed incident sites and met survivors and community leaders in multiple districts. It said patterns of harassment have intensified over recent months with few arrests or prosecutions reported.
The tribunal has submitted its report to state and federal authorities and urged immediate administrative and police action. A formal response from the Odisha government is expected as pressure mounts for reinforced security and impartial investigations.
