West Bengal Election Results 2026: What to Expect
The West Bengal Assembly elections have been one of the most closely watched events in India's recent history. With two phases of voting held on April 23 and April 29, the state's 294 constituencies have spoken. But what's next? The counting of votes will take place on May 4, and the outcome will determine the future of the state government.
The Election Commission of India has been working tirelessly to ensure a smooth and fair voting process. With extensive security and logistical arrangements in place, the Commission has been able to maintain a high level of voter turnout across constituencies.
But what do the polls say? According to various pollsters, the BJP is projected to win a significant number of seats, with some estimates putting them at over 190. The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC+) is expected to perform poorly, with some estimates suggesting they may lose as many as 90 seats. However, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has rejected these projections, calling them "fabricated" and accusing the BJP of attempting to influence perception.
Other pollsters paint a different picture. Matrize projects the BJP at 146-161 seats and TMC+ at 125-140, while P-Marq gives the BJP 150-175 seats and TMC 118-138. Poll Diary also indicates a BJP lead, but People's Pulse diverges sharply, suggesting the TMC could retain power with 177-187 seats, putting the BJP at 95-110.
With the counting of votes just around the corner, the people of West Bengal are eagerly awaiting the outcome. Will the BJP's projected dominance come to pass, or will the TMC+ surprise everyone and retain power? Only time will tell.
