Andhra Pradesh Education Chief Reprimands 50 Junior College Principals Over Poor Exam Results

Ranjith Basha, Director of the State Board of Intermediate Education in Andhra Pradesh, has reprimanded principals of 50 government junior colleges for poor performance in the March 2026 Intermediate Public Examinations, citing unacceptably low pass rates. He voiced serious concern over the results during a statewide review meeting held on May 5, 2026, in which the institutions failed to meet expected academic benchmarks.
Basha identified deficiencies in academic monitoring, teacher accountability, and classroom instruction as primary factors behind the underperformance. He directed the colleges to implement enhanced teaching strategies, strengthen internal assessments, and ensure regular faculty attendance, with immediate effect.
The principals were instructed to submit corrective action plans within 15 days and will be placed under close supervision by the Board. A follow-up review is scheduled for July 2026 to assess improvements in teaching quality and student outcomes.
