BRS Leader Accuses State Government of Imposing Unofficial Ban on Urea Sales to Farmers
Published: May 5, 2026
Bharat Rashtra Samithi's T. Harish Rao has accused the State government of issuing oral orders to halt urea sales to farmers, calling it an anti-farmer move. The claim, made Tuesday, alleges an unofficial ban across the State with no prior precedent.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Assembly Deputy Floor Leader T. Harish Rao on Tuesday accused the State government of imposing an unofficial ban on the sale of urea to farmers, calling the move anti-farmer and unprecedented. He said the Agriculture Department issued oral directives prohibiting urea sales across the State.
Rao claimed there were no such restrictions in the past and that the current action undermines agricultural operations. He attributed the decision to broader policy failures, stating the government was neglecting farmer welfare.
The State government has not yet responded to the allegations. The court will resume hearing on Tuesday.
