8th Pay Commission to Visit Telangana, J&K, Ladakh in May-June 2026 for Salary Consultations

The 8th Central Pay Commission has scheduled consultations in Telangana, Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh from May to June 2026 as part of its nationwide review of central government employees' pay and service conditions. The panel will hold meetings in Hyderabad, Srinagar, and Leh to collect feedback from government departments, employee unions, and representative bodies.
Stakeholders, including central government employee associations under the National Council (Joint Consultative Machinery), have submitted a final memorandum outlining key demands. These include setting the minimum basic pay at Rs 69,000, applying a 3.83 fitment factor, granting 6% annual increments, restoring the Old Pension Scheme, and increasing the lowest House Rent Allowance to 30%. The Commission has extended the deadline for submitting memorandums via its official portal to ensure wider participation.
Additional proposals call for reducing the current 18 pay levels to seven, expanding the definition of family for benefits to seven categories, ensuring five career promotions over 30 years, and instituting a five-year cycle for pension revisions. The Commission is evaluating all inputs ahead of finalizing its recommendations.
The consultations in the three regions mark a critical phase in the Commission's fact-finding process. The panel will continue its outreach before drafting its final report on pay structure and allowances for central government employees.
