The Madras High Court on Wednesday directed the Puzhal police to file a counter affidavit by Thursday in response to a bail plea filed by YouTuber ‘Savukku’ Shankar, also known as A. Shankar. The petition concerns an attempt-to-murder case registered after Shankar's arrest in Ongole, Andhra Pradesh, on April 8, 2026.

Justice L. Victoria Gowri, presiding over the summer vacation court, granted only one day for the police to submit their response. The judge rejected requests for additional time, mandating that the affidavit be filed by May 7, 2026.

The charges against Shankar stem from an investigation following his apprehension last month. The petitioner is currently seeking relief from custody in relation to the specific attempt-to-murder allegations handled by the Puzhal police station.

The High Court is scheduled to take up the bail petition for final disposal on Thursday, May 7, 2026, following the submission of the police counter affidavit.
