Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Orders Probe into Congress Vote Decline in Davanagere South
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday announced that the Congress party will conduct a formal investigation into the reduction of its vote share in the Davanagere South Assembly constituency. The Chief Minister stated that the party intends to identify the causes of the decline and will initiate corrective actions based on the findings.
Siddaramaiah attributed the electoral shift to changing voting patterns among the Muslim community, noting that voters who previously supported independent candidates had moved their support to the Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) in the latest cycle. The shift is being viewed as a critical factor in the party's performance within the constituency.
Regarding the overall bypoll results, the Chief Minister confirmed that Congress has secured two additional seats, bringing its recent bypoll win total to five. He characterized the victories as an endorsement of the state government’s welfare initiatives and a sign of sustained public confidence in the administration's policies.
The Congress state leadership is expected to meet with local Davanagere representatives shortly to begin the fact-finding process. A detailed report on the constituency's voting dynamics will be submitted to the party's executive committee for further review.
