TVK's 30-Year-Old Maduravoyal Winner Rhevanth Charan Claims Party Will Form Tamil Nadu Government

Rhevanth Charan, the 30-year-old Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) candidate, has won the Maduravoyal Assembly seat and claimed the party is set to form the Tamil Nadu government. Speaking to NDTV, Charan said results reflected an anti-incumbency wave against the ruling DMK and credited TVK's strategy of fielding grassroots leaders for its success.
Charan stated that party president Vijay's decision to back candidates from humble backgrounds resonated with voters. He dismissed speculation of a hung assembly, asserting there is 'no fear of instability' and that TVK would form the government. He added that alliance decisions or external support, if needed, would be determined by the party high command.
Addressing concerns about political defections, Charan maintained that TVK MLAs 'cannot be purchased' and rejected fears of poaching. He claimed rival parties underestimated TVK's rise, saying, 'They didn't take us seriously, but we have proved them wrong.' He also suggested possible unrest within the Congress ranks over alliance outcomes.
Charan defeated a former MLA and minister in Maduravoyal, calling his victory a triumph of democracy. He defended actor Vijay's limited campaign, alleging government-created obstacles, and said Vijay would soon visit all constituencies with proper security. He affirmed readiness to accept any role assigned by party leadership.
The TVK is awaiting official election results and seat tally confirmation from the Election Commission. The party's central leadership is expected to issue a formal statement on government formation plans and key appointments in the coming days.
