Assam Elections: Congress Leader Gaurav Gogoi Stays Focused on EVMs

The countdown begins in Assam, where voters went to the polls recently. Now, everyone's waiting for the results to be counted. But the exit polls have already caused a stir, predicting a win for the BJP. Gaurav Gogoi, the Congress leader in Assam, isn't worried, though.
Gogoi says the Congress party is counting on the people's verdict, as reflected in the EVMs. He's not too concerned about what the exit polls are saying. 'Exit polls are mainly for TV discussions,' he said. 'What matters to us is the decision made by the people of Assam, as recorded on the EVMs.'
The Congress party has received complaints from its candidates about how the EVMs are being handled. Gogoi says these concerns are serious and need to be looked into. He's documented all the complaints and plans to raise the issue with the authorities.
Despite the exit polls, Gogoi is feeling optimistic about the Congress party's chances. He believes the people of Assam have voted for change. 'Assam will give a clear verdict in favor of change,' he said. 'The people have spoken, and this time, they've voted for a new beginning.'
Meanwhile, the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Assam has clarified that only certain authorized individuals can visit the strong room area where the votes are stored. These individuals include contesting candidates, election agents, and authorized representatives. The CEO has assured that the rights of these individuals will be protected, and only a few people are allowed inside the CCTV monitoring zone at a time.
