Tragic Rescue: Young Boy Dies, Another Saved as Army Helicopter Rescues Kids from Water Tank
A tragic incident unfolded in the Siddharthnagar district of Uttar Pradesh, India, when five children climbed a defunct water tank on Saturday. As they were making their way down, the staircase gave way, causing three of them to fall. The three kids who fell, Golu, Sunny, and 10-year-old Siddharth, were rushed to a nearby medical college. Sadly, Siddharth was pronounced dead on arrival, while Golu and Sunny were in critical condition and were later referred to Gorakhpur for treatment.
The two other children, Pavan and Shaban, were left stranded atop the water tank. The situation was dire, but the authorities didn't waste any time. They worked through the night to find a way to reach the kids, but the rain made it difficult. It wasn't until they reached out to the army for help that a plan was put in place.
The District Magistrate, Shivasharanappa GN, explained that they contacted the Chief Minister's Office and the Relief Commissioner to get an army helicopter to rescue the stranded kids. After some quick planning, an IAF Mi-17 V5 helicopter was deployed from Gorakhpur. The rescue mission was a success, and the two kids were safely rescued at around 5:20 am.
The water tank in question was built around 30 years ago and had been declared unsafe. Despite this, kids would often climb it to make social media videos. This incident serves as a harsh reminder of the importance of safety measures, especially in public places.
The army's swift response and professionalism in rescuing the kids are a testament to their commitment to saving lives. The rescue operation was a collaborative effort between the army, the local authorities, and the Chief Minister's Office. It's heartening to see such efforts in times of need.
