Karnataka Allocates Additional ₹72 Crore to Combat Rural Water Scarcity

The Karnataka Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) Department released an additional ₹72 crore on Monday to mitigate drinking water scarcity in rural areas. This disbursement brings the total state allocation for drinking water-related works since March 2026 to ₹208.67 crore.
RDPR Minister Priyank Kharge confirmed that the funds are being utilized for emergency drinking water projects and to clear pending payments for works previously approved by Drinking Water Task Force committees. The move follows increasing pressure on rural water resources as the state manages seasonal demand.
Local task forces are directed to utilize the capital for immediate infrastructure repairs and supply logistics. The department will continue to monitor water availability across the state's rural districts to determine if further emergency funding is required in the coming weeks.
