Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Rules Out Immediate Delhi Visit, Defers Leadership Call to Congress High Command
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Wednesday stated he has no immediate plans to visit New Delhi, saying he would travel only if called by the Congress high command, including Rahul Gandhi. Speaking in Mysuru, he dismissed speculation about a change in state leadership, emphasizing that the Congress government will complete its full five-year term.
Siddaramaiah credited recent Congress bypoll victories in Davanagere and Bagalkot to public support for the government's welfare schemes, calling them a rejection of opposition tactics. He said the people's trust in the government was evident from consecutive electoral wins, and accused the BJP of engaging in conspiracies to destabilize the ruling party.
The Chief Minister alleged tampering during vote counting in the Sringeri local body election, claiming 255 valid votes for the Congress candidate were wrongly declared invalid. He accused BJP-appointed officials of facilitating the irregularities and said the Congress would legally challenge the election results.
The party is preparing to file a petition challenging the Sringeri outcome in court, a senior state Congress leader confirmed, with proceedings expected to begin within the week.
