The incident occurred as farmers attempted to cover grain heaps with tarpaulins amid rapidly deteriorating weather conditions.

Witnesses said the group moved closer to a wall and nearby structures for protection as wind intensity increased, but details on the exact cause of death—whether due to structural collapse or other factors—remain under investigation. The injured were taken to the government hospital in Luxettipet for treatment.
