Congress MP Questions Alliance with DMK After Tamil Nadu Election Results

Congress MP B. Manickam Tagore on Wednesday questioned whether the party should continue its alliance with the M.K. Stalin-led DMK in Tamil Nadu, saying the electorate had rejected the ruling party in the Assembly elections. Tagore, who had supported the alliance ahead of the polls, cited the DMK's significant losses, including half of its cabinet ministers losing their seats.
In a social media post, the Virudhunagar MP said the election results "have gone against the DMK" and claimed the Congress suffered collateral damage despite not being at fault. He noted the Congress won only five out of the 28 seats it contested as part of the DMK-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA).
Tagore's remarks signal emerging debate within the Congress over its alliance strategy in Tamil Nadu. Party leaders are expected to review state-level partnerships in light of the election outcomes during upcoming central committee discussions.
