Pakistani Court Clears PM Shehbaz Sharif's Daughter, Son-in-Law in Corruption Case

A Pakistani anti-corruption court has declared Rabia Imran, daughter of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and her husband Ali Imran Yousaf innocent in a high-profile corruption and money laundering case linked to the Punjab Saaf Pani Company. The court acquitted the couple after a single hearing on May 4, 2026, based on the Anti-Corruption Establishment's (ACE) submission that no evidence existed against them.
The ACE informed the Anti-Corruption Court in Lahore that its investigation found no involvement by the couple in the alleged misappropriation of funds or financial irregularities tied to the water supply project. Prosecutors stated they could not proceed without material evidence linking the accused to the case.
The decision brings a swift end to legal proceedings that had drawn public attention due to the family's political prominence. Rabia Imran and Ali Imran Yousaf had denied any wrongdoing since the case was initiated.
The court has closed the case, and no further action is expected unless new evidence emerges.
