Spain to Receive Hantavirus-Stricken Cruise Ship in Canary Islands
The Spanish Health Ministry confirmed late Tuesday it will allow the cruise ship MV Hondius to dock in the Canary Islands following a hantavirus outbreak on board. Officials stated the vessel is being received in accordance with international law and humanitarian principles.
Upon arrival, specialized medical teams will conduct health examinations and provide treatment for all passengers and crew members. The ministry confirmed that the primary objective is to stabilize the health situation on the vessel before initiating further logistics.
Following medical evaluation and necessary treatment, authorities will manage the transfer of all individuals to their respective home countries. Spanish health officials are expected to provide further updates once the vessel reaches the designated port.
