IUML Says They'll Back Congress's Decision on Kerala CM Pick
The IUML is a key partner in Kerala's United Democratic Front (UDF), which is expected to win the state assembly elections. IUML leaders are confident that their alliance will take back power after a decade in opposition.
IUML leader Panakkad Munavvar Ali Shihab Thangal said the party will respect the Congress's decision on their chief ministerial candidate. He pointed out that exit polls have predicted a UDF victory, and the IUML believes the same.
Thangal's comments were echoed by senior IUML leader MK Muneer, who emphasized that the decision on the chief minister rests with the Congress high command. Muneer expressed confidence that the Congress will make a unanimous decision that all constituents will accept.
The Congress is reportedly considering several candidates for the chief minister's post, including KC Venugopal, VD Satheesan, and Ramesh Chennithala.
The IUML's unwavering support for the Congress is a crucial factor in the upcoming election. The two parties have a long history of working together, and their alliance is expected to play a significant role in determining the outcome of the election.
