Heroic Indian-Origin Man Fighting for Life After Saving Sister from Australian Restaurant Fire
Baljeet Singh is a man who will stop at nothing to protect his loved ones. The 47-year-old Indian-origin man is fighting for his life after saving his sister, Satbir, from a devastating fire that ripped through a restaurant in Adelaide Hills, Australia. The fire broke out at the Mustard Seed restaurant in Hahndorf on Tuesday night, and Baljeet didn't hesitate to act.
He rushed into the burning building, pushing his sister to safety just as the flames were spreading rapidly.
His brother-in-law, Inderjeet Singh, spoke to the media about the heroic act, saying, "My brother-in-law is a brave man. He got a lot of fire on him and saved my wife."
The family had gone inside the restaurant after hearing an unusual noise, and that's when the sudden burst of flames erupted.
Baljeet's injuries are extremely serious, with 70% of his body burned. He's undergone emergency surgery, and his relatives are holding onto hope for his recovery.
"His skin is all burned... he's a tough man, and we are praying for him," the family said.
But the family's ordeal doesn't end there. They're also dealing with false rumors and speculation online, with some suggesting they were involved in causing the fire.
"With the rumors and speculation, I just feel so sad," Inderjeet said. "This is really devastating because right now we are going through a lot of pain and mental pressure."
The owners of the Mustard Seed restaurant have come forward to describe the establishment as a second home built on memories and regular customers.
Police in South Australia are still investigating the cause of the blaze, and the family has urged anyone with information or CCTV footage to assist investigators.
