The convoy rattled as three motorbike riders opened fire on the stretch of Juhu Road after the actor had just left a football ground. Shroff’s driver sustained a gunshot wound.
Within minutes, a video spread showing a man identifying himself as Anil Pandit, a junior operative of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, asserting the attack was part of a hit list. He said Shroff had not followed the gang’s directives and was supposedly collaborating with Salman Khan.
Bishnoi, jailed in Gujarat, has repeatedly threatened to kill anyone who works with Khan, citing the 1998 blackbuck hunting incident that enraged the community. He has also claimed that Khan must apologize for a perceived slight before the gang would cease its campaign.
Shroff’s entry into Bollywood was reportedly facilitated by Khan’s endorsement to producer Sajid Nadiadwala, and the two have shared stages at events, with their families often rubbing shoulders. Their mutual admiration for each other’s fitness and dedication is well documented.
Police have arrested a suspect linked to the gang and are pursuing charges under the NIA’s anti‑terror provisions. The driver is recovering in a Mumbai hospital, and authorities say the investigation will culminate in a court hearing next month.
