India Condemns Iran Attack on UAE Oil Facility After 3 Nationals Injured

India condemned an attack by Iran on the Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone in the United Arab Emirates, which injured three Indian nationals, describing the act as 'unacceptable' and a violation of civilian safety. The Ministry of External Affairs demanded an immediate end to hostilities and reaffirmed India's commitment to peace and navigation rights under international law. Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal issued the statement on X, emphasizing the targeting of civilian infrastructure and innocent lives as indefensible.
The UAE's Defence Ministry reported intercepting 15 missiles and four drones launched from Iran, with one drone causing a fire at Fujairah's largest oil facility. The British military confirmed two cargo vessels were ablaze off the Emirati coast. The eastern emirate of Fujairah confirmed injuries to three Indian workers at the site, though no fatalities were reported.
Iran has not formally claimed responsibility, with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warning the US and UAE against escalation. An anonymous Iranian military official stated Tehran had 'no plan' to target the UAE, blaming the incident on 'U.S. military adventurism' related to President Donald Trump's operation to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Iran accuses the US of violating the ceasefire by attempting to escort vessels through the strategic waterway.
The attack underscores the fragility of the ceasefire between the US and Iran, which began in early April after weeks of conflict sparked by bilateral strikes in February. Iran's de facto blockade of the Strait of Hormuz has disrupted global shipping and driven up fuel prices, raising concerns over energy security. India reiterated its call for unimpeded commerce through the strait in line with international law.
The Indian government is monitoring the situation closely and coordinating with UAE authorities on consular support for the injured nationals. The Ministry of External Affairs will continue to advocate for diplomatic resolution, as regional tensions remain high. The court will resume hearing on Tuesday.
