Bengaluru Police Recover 692 Stolen Mobile Phones Valued at ₹1.75 Crore

The North-East Division of Bengaluru City Police recovered 692 lost and stolen mobile phones worth an estimated ₹1.75 crore during a special enforcement operation. Authorities used the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal to track the missing devices following reports filed by citizens.
The coordinated drive was conducted throughout April 2026 and involved specialized teams from 11 police stations within the division. The recovered inventory includes mobile devices from various manufacturers that had been reported missing or stolen across the city.
Police officials stated that the integration of the CEIR portal has streamlined the process of blocking and tracing handsets, leading to a higher recovery rate. The operation targeted both individual thefts and lost property cases reported through official channels.
The Bengaluru City Police will begin the process of verifying ownership documents to return the recovered handsets to their rightful owners. Department officials indicated that similar technology-driven drives will continue to address the rise in mobile device thefts.
