Rahul Gandhi Takes Aim at BJP Over Shocking Remark Against Female MP
Imagine being insulted in public by a leader who's supposed to be a champion of women's rights. That's exactly what happened to Congress MP Geniben Thakor at a BJP event in Gujarat. The party's Chief, Jagdish Vishwakarma, made a shocking remark, essentially threatening her and other women. He said the women of Gujarat would give the BJP a fitting response by snatching their seats and pulling off their saree pallus.
This isn't the first time the BJP has been called out for its anti-women stance. The party's failure to pass the 131st Constitutional Amendment Bill in the Lok Sabha sparked outrage. The bill aimed to fast-track the 2023 reservation, giving women a 33% quota. But the BJP's efforts were met with resistance from the Congress, and the bill ultimately failed.
Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition, was quick to respond to Vishwakarma's remark. He slammed the BJP, calling them out for their "distorted mindset". Gandhi asked if this was what the BJP meant by "Nari Vandana" - empowering women or granting them rights. He pointed out that the party's actions speak louder than their words.
Gandhi also took a swipe at Prime Minister Modi, saying he's "fled Parliament in a panic" from questions posed by Congress female MPs. The PM's own words, Gandhi noted, suggest that women never forget their insults. Yet, the BJP seems to have forgotten this principle entirely.
In a rallying cry to women across the country, Gandhi vowed that they would deliver a fitting response to every insult. He's right - the women of Gujarat, and indeed all of Hindustan, will not take this lying down. They'll push back against the BJP's anti-woman ideology with every fibre of their being.
