Emaar Founder Alabbar Praises Indian Workers, Cites Discipline in Crisis Response
Mohamed Alabbar, founder and managing director of Emaar Properties, said he prioritizes hiring Indian professionals due to their discipline, work ethic, and commitment, particularly during crises. Speaking at the Make it in the Emirates summit in Abu Dhabi, Alabbar highlighted their willingness to respond at all hours, remarking, 'I like to hire Indians, because they answer the phone even at one o’clock in the morning.'
Alabbar linked workforce reliability to business continuity, emphasizing that companies must maintain stability during disruptions. He credited the UAE's leadership and preparedness for navigating recent regional tensions, including fallout from the Iran conflict, and said Emaar assured employees early in the crisis that no layoffs or salary cuts would occur.
The executive stressed that trust, operational discipline, and consistent communication are critical when businesses face uncertainty. He noted that how firms treat employees during difficult periods defines their long-term resilience. The court will resume hearing on Tuesday.
