CBI Secures Extradition of Fugitive Mohammad Navas from UAE

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has successfully extradited Mohammad Navas Kakkat Ismail, a fugitive accused of extortion, cheating, forgery, and impersonating government officials, from the United Arab Emirates. Ismail arrived in India on Sunday and was taken into custody by Delhi Police at Indira Gandhi International Airport.
He was a key figure in a criminal syndicate that extorted money by posing as government officers, according to CBI officials. Delhi Police had requested CBI's assistance in issuing an Interpol Red Notice, which led to his location and arrest by UAE authorities.
The CBI filed an extradition request with UAE authorities, which was processed after sustained follow-up. Ismail's return marks one of over 150 successful repatriations of wanted Indian fugitives in recent years through Interpol coordination.
The Delhi Police will now proceed with legal proceedings against Ismail, while the CBI continues to support investigations into the wider criminal network.
