Cannabis Heist Bust: Five Men Arrested in Canada with $2 Million Worth of Stolen Goods
The police in Canada made a massive seizure of cannabis worth over $2 million from a stolen trailer. This happened on April 15th when officers from the York Regional Police's Auto Cargo Theft Unit were patrolling the area around McLaughlin Road and Highway 401 in Mississauga. They stumbled upon a trailer that had been reported stolen from the Niagara Region and was suspected to be carrying a large shipment of cannabis meant for licensed dispensaries.
The officers quickly identified the suspects who were linked to the stolen trailer and arrested five men on the spot. During the search of the suspects, they found two firearms, which added to the list of charges against the accused. The police are still investigating and believe there may be additional victims connected to the case.
The five men arrested are from different parts of Canada. Manveer Singh, 21, Sarbjeet Singh, 32, Dilkhab Singh, 21, Karan Kumar, 25, and Jaiskavan Malhi, 23, are all facing serious charges. Manveer, Sarbjeet, Dilkhab, and Jaiskavan are from Brampton, while Karan is from Hamilton.
The combined charges against the five men total 33 counts, including theft over $5,000 involving a motor vehicle and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, along with firearm-related offenses. The police are urging anyone with information about the case to come forward or contact Crime Stoppers anonymously.
