Andhra Pradesh Allots 10,453 Free Private School Seats in Phase-II Lottery
The Andhra Pradesh government has allotted 10,453 free seats to economically weaker section students in private schools under Section 12(1)(C) of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act for the 2026–27 academic year. Samagra Shiksha State Project Director B. Srinivasa Rao announced the second-phase lottery results in a statement issued in Vijayawada on Tuesday.
A total of 54,647 students applied statewide, of whom 54,016 were declared eligible for the draw. This phase covered applicants residing between one and five kilometres from schools, while the earlier phase allotted 30,075 seats to students living within a one-kilometre radius.
The allotment was executed through a computerised random selection process mandated by the RTE Act to ensure transparency. Seats have been assigned across participating private schools in compliance with reservation norms and proximity criteria.
District education officers have been directed to inform selected candidates and facilitate admission formalities by the scheduled deadlines. The department will publish the final seat allotment list and monitor compliance by schools ahead of the academic year.
