Clashes Break Out in Bengal During Repolling
Repolling in West Bengal's South 24 Parganas was supposed to be a peaceful affair, but things took a dramatic turn when supporters of the BJP and TMC clashed. The violence was reported in several constituencies, including Magrahat Paschim and Diamond Harbour.
The clashes were sparked by allegations of EVM tampering and voter obstruction in Diamond Harbour's Falta segment. BJP leaders claimed that voters were unable to select their party due to interference with the machines.
To restore order, security forces were deployed in large numbers to ensure voting continued. The situation was eventually brought under control, but not before several people were injured.
The repoll was ordered after the Election Commission of India declared the April 29 voting in 15 polling stations void. The decision was made following reports of irregularities.
Fresh polling is being conducted from 7 am to 6 pm, with extensive security arrangements in place to prevent further disturbances. Central forces have been deployed at sensitive polling stations, and authorities are keeping a close eye on the situation.
