Pakistan Navy Rescues Stranded Indian Ship in Arabian Sea After Distress Call

The Pakistan Navy responded to a distress call and delivered emergency aid to an Indian merchant vessel stranded in the Arabian Sea after a critical technical failure, authorities said. MV Gautam, carrying six Indian and one Indonesian crew member, was en route from Oman to India when it became disabled.
The Maritime Rescue and Coordination Centre in Mumbai formally requested assistance from Islamabad, prompting the deployment of the Pakistan Navy ship PMSS Kashmir alongside the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency. Emergency food, medical aid and technical support were provided to stabilize the vessel and ensure crew safety, the Pakistani military said.
The operation marks a second maritime rescue by Pakistan in the Arabian Sea within a month, following the evacuation of 18 crew members from merchant vessel MV Gold Autumn in late-stage distress last month. No injuries or pollution incidents were reported in connection with MV Gautam.
Pakistan’s military said coordination with regional maritime authorities will continue as efforts to restore the vessel’s propulsion proceed. Further technical assessments and salvage options are expected to be finalized in the coming hours.
