Social Media Campaigns Won't Decide Kerala CM, Says Ramesh Chennithala

Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala stated on Wednesday that social media campaigns and the installation of flexboards will not be the deciding factors in selecting the Chief Minister of Kerala. Speaking to reporters in Delhi, Chennithala emphasized that leadership appointments follow established party protocols rather than digital or public optics.
The remarks were made in response to an intensifying social media campaign favoring V.D. Satheesan for the top post. Supporters of Satheesan have argued that his role in leading the United Democratic Front (UDF) election campaign from the front qualifies him for the Chief Minister's office.
Chennithala, who is also considered a candidate for the position, downplayed the influence of these public displays during the press interaction. He indicated that the selection process remains an internal matter for the party leadership and the UDF coalition.
The Congress high command is expected to initiate formal discussions regarding the state leadership once the election results are finalized. A meeting of the parliamentary party will be scheduled to determine the next steps for the UDF government formation.
